I lost my engagement ring.
I don't care much for "stuff". I don't form attachments to them. Many might think it means I don't care for my things... To a huge extent, that's true. I don't care for them in the real sense of the word. To me, 'stuff' are merely inanimate objects that don't have any real value.
With this ring though, it's different. For the first time in my life I have placed significant importance on a thing. I have never felt this way for anything that didn't have life.
That's the irony of all this.
In the past, I have lost or broken even more expensive stuff. And always, I KNEW it was my fault.
In the past, I have lost or broken even more expensive stuff. And always, I KNEW it was my fault.
This time, I'm just so sure of myself. I know I didn't miss out on anything. I didn't take it off. I didn't play with it. I don't know why or how it happened.
It's the one thing I've given extraordinary diligence.
It might be hard for people who know me to believe that.
Knowing who I was and am with stuff.
I'm tempted to go on a guilt trip just as I do before, when I lose stuff. But for the first time, I don't blame me. For the first time, I blame circumstances.
I want to have my ring back.
| This is a photo of my ring. I took a picture coz I was supposed to write something about 'our' story. If you see it lying around somewhere... Please contact me. |

ReplyDeleteWhenever I lose something, I just think about how something more important could have been lost (you are still engaged, right? :-), and that maybe the person who finds it needs it more than i do.. that cheers me up a little bit.
ReplyDeleteI know how it feels...I lost our wedding and engagement rings together. I'm not sure how but I suspect that someone took them. It's good you have a picture of the sweet ring.
